Sigma Rho Fraternity
The Sigma Rho Fraternity is a University of the Philippines College of Law-based Fraternity. The Sigma Rho was formally organized in 1938 and was officially recognized by the University of the Philippines in 1939. The Sigma Rho Fraternity is the oldest and most prestigious law school-based college fraternity in all Asia. It was founded by 12 idealistic students from the UP College of Law. Among the founders was the late Luciano Salazar (’38), who co-founded the biggest law firm in the country, Sycip SALAZAR Hernandez and Gatmaitan Law Offices. Sigma Rhoans are seekers of truth, fighters for justice and defenders of the right. Sigma Rho has an array of distinguished national leaders, including two justices of the Supreme Court. Sigma Rho has produced leaders who are respected not only for their towering intellect and formidable achievements but also for their indomitable fortitude.
