UP Women in Law
The UP WOMEN IN LAW is a socio-civic and academic organization geared towards the promotion of the intellectual and physical well-being of its members and the development of their talents and qualities in preparation for their future role as lawyers and productive members of society. The organization draws strength and credibility from three things: (1) its culture which is steeped in tradition free of strict hierarchical relations, (2) drive for excellence in every pursuit, and (3) impassioned commitment to principled leadership.
The organization was founded on September 7, 1979 by 11 female students who felt the need for a non-sorority type women’s organization that could answer their academic and personal needs in the UP College of Law. Since then, Winlaw has grown to be the largest organization in the College. This is not surprising because more than 60% of the UP Law’s population is composed of women.
Winlaw has evolved into a redefined group of women made closer and connected to each other by their commitment to uphold their ideals, reaching out to the world beyond the four walls of Malcolm Hall.
