Required Survey

Dear fellow students:

The UP Law Student Government, through the Students’ Rights and Welfare (STRAW) Committee and the Academic Reforms Commission (ARC), found that there is a need to launch a survey that would serve as a guide to the administration on the following student concerns:

Demographics of the student population (how many are working / not working; how many are regular / irregular; how many are not from Manila)
Class (core and elective subjects) and Professor demand
Student scholarship information

In connection with this, we would greatly appreciate it if you answer the survey questions found in your respective URLs below:

Please note that your participation in this short survey will serve as a requirement for your 2nd semester, AY 2009-2010 enlistment (see attached Memo SFL 2009-008). The information and answers you will share in the said queries will be confidential and will be handled by STRAW and ARC members only. Student numbers will only be used to check compliance and not to identify respondents.

The survey will run until October 17, 2009. We are sorry that we cannot extend the survey period because most of the information will be needed for pre-enlistment.

Please help us spread the word by forwarding this to your blockmates / former blockmates and classmates!

Thank you!

Bidding Options

Dear fellow UP Law Students,

In light of the recent FGD regarding certain issues in the bidding system, the ARC-STRAW Committee of LSG came up with 3 bidding OPTIONS (ATTACHED) that best represent the views in the said FGD. However, these are NOT exclusive options. We highly encourage everyone to also PROPOSE new methods as well as to COMMENT on the first 3 that we made. We are hoping that everyone can get to participate, especially since the 2nd semester is drawing near.

There is a FREEDOM WALL in front of the Law Library and a thread at the UP LSG ONLINE FORUMS http://www.uplsg.com/forums/index.php?topic=57.0

Your comments will not be censored, but please post responsibly.

Finally, please vote for the option you prefer in the CLASS DEMAND SURVEY that will be circulated later. If you have other proposals / ideas, you may post them there as well.

For inquiries, you may contact JILL DE DUMO (0917 887 58 40) or BERNS MENDOZA (0906 506 57 92).
You may also choose to e-mail your reactions to arc@uplsg.com if you want your identity to remain private. : )

Thank you.

Option 1 – No Priority

Option 2 – Multiplier

Option 3 – Regulated

Class Monitors

LSG College of Law

Due to de-blocking, students are having a hard time photocopying class materials.

In line with the changes of our time, we highly encourage all classes to agree amongst themselves and assign class monitors to help create new systems that could be used to ease the arduous task of every student lining up and photocopying the same materials.

Through this photocopying system, students would be freed from the hassle and stress of going to the library and queuing for their materials.

Thanks and have a happy start to the sem!
